The third white paper in the 10th Anniversary Research Series by the American Gaming Association (AGA) was recently released. The paper focused on the impact of the online casinos industry's collaborative efforts in promoting and practicing responsible gaming as seen by important figures within the online casinos gaming industry and scientific research and treatment communities.
'The commercial casino industry has set itself apart by leading the way and succeeding in the important task of focusing on the issue of problem gambling in its day-to-day activities,' he said. 'Problem gambling awareness and the promotion of responsible gaming now are part of the business of operating a casino.' According to the paper, the AGA gave the online casinos industry a unified voice and platform upon which a standardized approach provided direction and substance to the online casinos outreach efforts. The paper, which is divided into three sections, opens with an explanation of the issues that prompted the formation of an industry-wide response to disordered gambling. Eventually, it led the first AGA board of directors to establish responsible gaming as one of its top priorities. In 2004, the first comprehensive wide-spread approach to responsible gambling was implemented.
Today, responsible gaming is part of most online casinos. With approval seals, proper licensing, and member services serving the best interests of their customers, online casinos have made the adjustments necessary to provide their players with a safe and enjoyable environment when gambling online.
